The property
Occupying a secluded yet vantage point on the outskirts of the rural and historic heritage village of Cefn Mawr near Chirk in North Wales, is the charming property of Hillcrest. Newly and lovingly renovated to a very high standard and enjoying an extremely peaceful countryside setting, Hillcrest is an idyllic base for families, friends and walkers looking for a getaway into North Wales and its borderlands and beyond. You are welcome to park in the off-road spaces on the private driveway and at the rear of the property (which will accommodate two cars) and begin your staycation. There is lots of room in the porch for boots and coats; from the hall enter the spacious open-plan living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, separate fridge and freezer, dishwasher and microwave oven; there is a washing machine in the utility room. At the end of your day, you can snuggle up on the sofa and enjoy a family-favourite on the TV, and you can also move upstairs and enjoy an escape into the pages of a good book, film or game in the additional sitting room/games room. On the first floor there is a sumptuous double bedroom, with its own en-suite shower room, on the ground floor there is the master bedroom, which has a king-size bed, along with the twin bedroom. On the ground floor, there is also a walk- in shower, ideal for guests with limited mobility and for families with little ones. Take the short stroll to Tŷ Mawr Country Park, where you can follow the network of walking trails that lead alongside the glistening waters of the River Dee, or come face-to-face with quaint farm animals, including free range chickens and a pair of llamas! Continue your idyllic strolls along the River Dee up towards Thomas Telford’s incredible Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, there is even the option to take a cruise and soak up the sights and you sit back and relax. Venture to Chirk, a town offering a range of fantastic amenities, including an array of shops and eateries; the town is also home to the Chirk Aqueduct, where you can embark on leisurely strolls along the canal, as well as the renowned Chirk Castle, where you can enjoy tours around the fortress before exploring its stunning parkland. Corwen isn’t far, a town that is stepped in history, which will be evident with visits to the nearby Iron Age hillfort of Caer Drewyn; spend some time hiking across the hillfort and soaking up the sights of the Berwyn Mountains before wandering through the town’s quaint streets, where welcoming cafes and pubs can be discovered. Be sure to visit the nearby town of Llangollen, where you can embark on an adventure through the rolling countryside of the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty aboard a heritage train from Llangollen Railway Station or test your swing with a game at the Vale of Llangollen Golf Club; why not try your hand at fishing at one of the nearby waters, or embarking on a hike along the stunning Horseshoe Pass? The historic Roman city of Chester sits just across the border of England and is easily reached via train; avid historians will delight with a tour of the Amphitheatre and the Roman Walls, whilst those looking for a change of pace can try their luck at Chester Racecourse or meet animals from across the world at Chester Zoo. Be sure to spend some more time getting to know the local area, where the delights of Erdigg Hall, Trevor Basin as well as a wealth of walks are waiting to be found; alternatively, you can board a train to Shrewsbury, a market town offering a fantastic outing for all ages. Whether you're looking for adventure or relaxation, choose Hillcrest as your base.
