The property
With uninterrupted countryside views with glimpses of the sea, Higher Roskorwell Cottage lies a mile and a half outside the peaceful village of St Keverne on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula. From the cottage it is just half a mile downhill walk to the village of Porthallow which has a traditional fishing cove with a pebbled beach and a pub for refreshments. Approached via a bridleway that connects to the spectacular coastal path, this wonderful 18th century Cornish stone cottage is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Providing a cosy home from home with lots of comfort, this pretty character cottage makes the perfect choice if you are looking to relive childhood memories of Cornish seaside holidays, or seeking a peaceful refuge to unwind and relax.Inside this pretty cottage you will be greeted with a cosy sitting room with an inglenook fire place housing a multifuel stove and an open fire. The traditional country kitchen diner is equipped with a Rayburn oven, electric cooker, built in larder and Belfast sink. On the first floor, two pretty bedrooms look out over the peaceful Cornish countryside; two double bedrooms, plus a sitting room with double sofa bed and wood burning stove. A ground floor bathroom with bath and shower over and first floor shower room complete the interior. Outside relax in the enclosed garden with a good book or indulge in your favourite tipple whilst marveling at the Cornish sunsets. Positioned just over a mile outside of the village of St Keverne with it's pretty village square, two family friendly pubs, a butchers, restaurant, post office and food shop/off-license, this a perfect base for exploring. Visit nearby Roskilly’s where you can wander through the meadows and ponds, meet the animals and sample the famous ice cream. The farm is also dog friendly. Follow the South West Coast Path through the picturesque Cornish fishing villages of Porthallow and Porthoustock and enjoy the beautiful coastal views across Falmouth Bay to St. Anthony's Head. Wander along the leafy river bank of the Helford River where at St Anthony, sailing boats, motorboats, kayaks and dinghies can be hired. Enjoy a pub lunch at Coverack with its little harbour and beautiful beach at low tide, you may even spot a Dolphin or two from here. A stay on the Lizard Peninsula wouldn’t be complete without visiting the breathtaking Kynance Cove with it’s white sands and azure seas. Further along the coast you will find the bustling village of Porthleven a secret surfing haven for experienced wave riders, where you can also sit beside the harbour and enjoy a pasty from the famous Ann’s Pasties of The Lizard, fun dining at The Mussel Shoal or fine dining at the Michael Cains restaurant, previously owned by Rick Stein.
