Summary
The apartment was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped, with a nice welcome pack. High standards in the shower and kitchen were noted, though some areas had minor cleanliness issues. WiFi had interruptions, and the location was on a busy road, making it feel overlooked. Overall, a pleasant stay.
The property
A magnificent castle like structure towering above the quaint towns of Lyme Regis, Dorset, 1 Coram Tower offers a stunning ground-floor apartment in the grade II listed building originally built by the sea captain Thomas Coram. This amazing apartment is perfect for families who love a peak at history, as well as a splendid stay beside the bay.
Upon arrival, you will be delighted by the intriguing structure of this building, with palm trees shrouding the base of this tower, noting the traditional style and architecture that makes this historical building stand out from its neighbouring properties. After receiving a welcome hamper upon arrival, you will be keen to explore the apartment, finding yourself in a stylish sitting room with huge windows drawing in the light from the bay and allowing optimum views of the surrounding town, noting how the white leather sofas encourage you to recline and splashes of blue in the décor remind you that you are right beside the stunning Dorset coast, and right beside the window you will find a glass dining table and window bench, perfect for a heart-warming breakfast. Paintings and photographs line the white walls, giving this property a homely feel, and a contemporary kitchen will delight any budding chef. A super-king size bed in the main bedroom is the perfect place to snuggle down for the night, enjoying the last of the sun through the window at the foot of the bed and there is a twin room with storage, perfect for children, as well as a shower room.
With such a beautiful historic building, it would be a shame not to visit some of the local sites of interest, including walks around the incredible Cannington Viaduct, Blackbury Camp and Maiden Castle or explore the history of the local area at Lyme Regis Museum. When in need of a cup of tea and home-made cake, head into the local town where you will be able to find a variety of eateries, as well as shops selling craft and artwork. You can’t come to Dorset and not take a walk along the Jurassic coastline, where you can indulge in sea views and may be lucky enough to find a fossil. Indulge in the history of Dorset with a stay at 1 Coram Tower.
