Summary
The cottage is well-suited for families, with ample space and excellent amenities. Its location is convenient, just a short walk to town. Guests appreciated the comfortable beds and well-equipped kitchen. Street parking is available, though sometimes busy. A suggestion was made for better privacy in one bedroom.
The property
Thirty Blencathra Street is a traditional Victorian terrace located only a stone's throw from the bustling streets of Keswick's town centre. The owner’s attention to detail and quality is evident throughout, and it makes the perfect base for getaways with family and friends.
Through the front door is a small porch with storage for walking boots and coats. Beyond an original glazed door is the hall leading to the open plan dining room, a beautiful room featuring a large specially commissioned solid wood dining table with long benches; perfect for a big group breakfast or dinner. With a wood burner sat in a lovely exposed brick and Lakeland slate surround it also makes a great space to spend the evenings together. A French door onto the courtyard garden opens up the living space when the weather permits. To the rear of the property is a well-equipped kitchen with luxury stone effect floors and washed wood counter tops, including a full complement of integrated appliances including a fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, slow-cooker, gas hob and electric oven and grill, you have all you need to cook up a feast in a spacious environment. A small breakfast bar is built in at the end of the work units which would make a great place for a breakfast buffet or a sociable glass of wine whilst preparing meals. There is a small enclosed courtyard garden accessible both from the kitchen and dining room with outdoor seating and a small garage with secure, lockable storage for bikes and other outdoor equipment. There are also washing facilities for muddy paws, bikes and boots in the garage.
A lovely light and airy bedroom is situated on the ground floor with a period feature fireplace which can be set as a twin or super king-size bed. Upstairs to the first floor are 2 shared bathrooms. One has a large shower with basin and WC. The other a freestanding contemporary bath, double shower, basin and WC. A small first floor utility room houses the washing machine and tumble dryer, tucked out of the way to avoid any noise.
Still on the first floor but up 4 steps from the landing is bedroom two with zip and link beds providing twin flexibility or a spacious super king size double. On this floor you will also find the light and spacious living room situated at the front of the house to take advantage of the spectacular views of Skiddaw and the surrounding fells.
On the top floor there is one double bedroom featuring a large double bed and a beautiful suite with en-suite shower room. This lovely room has two windows and enjoys fabulous views of Skiddaw. Still on the top floor is bedroom 4 with zip and link beds providing twin flexibility or a spacious super king size double.
