The famous Haverthwaite Steam Railway runs close by, with the Lakeland Motor Museum, Haverthwaite and Aquarium of the Lakes in proximity. Ulverston, Grange Over Sands and the quaint Cartmel village host a variety of independent shops steeped in history. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, with shopping, swans and boat rides. The picturesque village of Hawkshead retains the charm that endeared its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter.
