You can comfortably ditch your car and wander the winding streets here, get out onto the hills beyond, board the steamer boats that cruise the lake from Bowness Bay, or use the excellent public transport connections on your doorstep. We'd recommend a tour of the region with Mountain Goat, a minibus company based in adjacent Windermere village.
