Head into Bowness to find an assortment of shops and a supermarket for picking up any essentials, as well as several excellent restaurants and bars to sample. Find Bowness Pier and you can depart on board a steamer taking passengers up and down Lake Windermere to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside. Row boats can also be hired if you’d prefer to explore the waters at your own pace. This part of the Lake District has a very wide appeal – perfect for families, with a host of watersports and mountain biking available, and great for couples wishing to enjoy the romantic beauty of the lakes and mountains.
