With such glorious landscapes to enjoy there is very little reason to get in the car, but if you do, just a short drive away is the bustling town of Ambleside, set on the shores of Lake Windermere. From here you can access the pretty villages of Bowness and Windermere which are home to a plethora of quaint shops, tea rooms, cafés and some fascinating literary attractions.
