The property
Shap 3.9 miles. Encompassed by the National Parks of the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, Barn End is ideally situated for those in pursuit of a countryside escape. Offering a traditional farmhouse feel intertwined with stylish and contemporary furnishings, Barn End is a wonderful retreat for a family or group of friends seeking an idyllic position, but within close reach of excitement of many kinds. Step inside this stone-front cottage and head into the hallway making your way towards the extensive sitting area, where you can light up the woodburning stove and indulge in a hot chocolate for a family film night, or for those in need of some alone time, tucked around the corner of the main sitting room is a separate seating area, the perfect place to get lost in a good book. Attached to the sitting room you can find the conservatory, a true suntrap with bright blue decor and large windows overlooking the garden, it's a marvellous spot to spend your mornings with your canine companion by your side. Move through into the kitchen/diner to find a farmhouse theme in the form of a rustic wooden table beneath the beams and an ornamental woodburning stove, adding character to this well-equipped area with the ground floor also hosting a shower room. When the evening draws to a close you can retreat to either of two areas of the house to find your sleeping spot; following the staircase up from the kitchen, at the top of the stairs to your right, be greeted by the charming double room with dark blue accents, or on turning left find the pretty single room, adorned in lovely pink, behind one of the two rustic doors, with a bathroom resting behind the other. The second set of stairs will lead you to two further bedrooms, comprising of a charming quadruple room, with three single beds, with light flooding in from the Velux windows, or find rest in the spacious double bedroom, with vibrant pink touches and a bathroom to serve these rooms as well. Spend a moment or two on the private patio in the mornings, letting your four-legged friend stretch their legs before heading out to explore the remote countryside settings of Sleagill. Just under four miles away in Shap you can find all the essential local amenities of a shop and Post Office alongside warm and welcoming pubs, or venture into Penrith and discover the history of the local area in the Penrith and Eden Museum before taking a trip into the Lake District to find ample opportunities for walking, cycling, climbing, birdwatching and watersports. Venture into the village of Askham and be sure to tour Askham Hall; stock up on the essentials at the nearest shop or treat your loved ones to a tasty treat at the fish and chip shop close by. Orton can be found in close reach, offering an indulgent experience in the form of Kennedy’s Chocolate Shop, with its coffee house serving heart-warming beverages accompanied by a good selection of chocolates, speciality biscuits and more, it provides the perfect treat following an afternoon ramble.
