The property

Milnthorpe 1.6 miles. West View is a semi-detached cottage that sits in the picturesque village of Leasgill, 1.6 miles from Milnthorpe and just outside the Lake District National Park. Suited to 1 or 2 couples or a family of four plus up to 2 dogs, West View is a great place to call home while exploring Cumbria. The nearest large village of Milnthorpe offers a selection of shops including a Booths supermarket and plenty of takeaways to sample. For the more energetic, take the half-mile climb up onto Heversham Head for stunning views over the Lake District Fells and Morecambe Bay. A little further down the road lies Levens Deer Park with its glorious avenue of trees, fallow deer and rare breed goats. Levens Hall opposite is a fabulous Georgian manor house, home of the Bagot family and site of the world's oldest topiary garden. It has a superb café, bakery and gift shop. Alternatively, visit the National Trust Fortress of Sizergh Castle and its café and shop just 10 mins by car. Nearby Arnside with its beach and independent shops and cafes offers stunning coastal walks while its neighbour Silverdale is an AONB. The attractions of Kendal are easily accessible including a host of shops, cafes and tea rooms as well as Kendal Museum, the Quaker Tapestry, the Brewery Arts Centre and the Museum of Lakeland Life at Abbot Hall. The 555 bus stops in the village for trips to Kendal and the Lakes including Windermere, Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick. For something different, meet the exotic animals at the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis or enjoy a spot of bird watching at Leighton Moss or Foulshaw Moss nature reserves. The more adventurous may wish to tackle one of the hills: the Lake District is home to England’s 3 highest peaks Scafell Pike, Helvellyn and Skiddaw. Whatever your interests are, make the most of this Cumbrian location with a stay at West View.
