Summary

The cottage was warm, cozy, and well-equipped, ideally located for visiting nearby attractions. Guests appreciated the cleanliness, welcome pack, and transport links. Although ongoing drainage works were a concern, they did not significantly impact the stay. Some noted excess crockery taking up cupboard space.

The property

Nestled in the Lakeland village of Burneside is this semi-detached, family-friendly cottage overlooking the river, Rose Cottage. With two bedrooms sleeping four guests, this homely cottage provides off-road parking, excellent self-catering facilities, and easy access to the Lake District National Park. Inside, a relaxing sitting room awaits with cushioned armchairs, a leather sofa, and a Smart TV, all by the warmth of an electric fire. Stock up the cupboards in the kitchen/diner ready to whip up your best home-cooked dishes, to be enjoyed at the dining table for four. After the day's adventures, load up the dishwasher and washer/dryer, before climbing the stairs to freshen up in the contemporary bathroom with marble-effect tiling, a bath and shower over. The first of two bedrooms is a king-size with lovely rural views, whilst the twin bedroom is nearby, both of which are spacious with plenty of storage for your belongings. Burneside is a wonderful holiday base where the Jolly Anglers Inn and a convenience store provide your self-catering needs; why not pack your clubs and head to Carus Green Golf Course & Driving Range? KendalWall, Lakeland Climbing Centre is also nearby, as well as Handsome Brewery at Bowston Bridge, and the natural food shop, Humble Bumble. The popular market town of Kendal is a short drive away where the Quaker Tapestry Museum, the medieval Kendal Castle, and the Brewery Arts with theatres, galleries, two cinemas and restaurant/bar ensure there's something for everyone. If you're looking for a day out, head to Windermere for scenic cruises along the lake, finding familiar faces at The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, or climbing up to Orrest Head Viewpoint for panoramic views. Around this gorgeous lake you'll also find plenty of walking opportunities, hikes up Claife Heights, and the National Trust properties of Wray Castle and Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's rural farmhouse.
