Summary

The property is spacious, clean, and well-equipped, with a great location near shops and dining. Guests appreciated the comfy beds, parking, and unique design. Some noted noise from nearby businesses and light from external sources affecting sleep. Suggestions include adding blackout blinds and clearer washer/dryer instructions.

The property

Nestled in the Lake District National Park in the famous town of Windermere is Old Village House. This wonderful three-storey beautifully renovated cottage welcomes up to six guests in three bedrooms, each bedroom enjoys an en-suite bathroom and king size bed and the property boasts off-road parking, a rarity in this busy town, making this well suited to three couples or families looking to getaway to the Lake District. Enter into your home-away-from-home and unwind in the spacious living room while the TV plays and the woodburning fire crackles, creating a homely ambience; let the designated chef find the kitchen which is well-appointed with a range of appliance to whip up tasty meals for the whole group. These can then be enjoyed in the dining room, where you can catch up on the day's adventures; this floor is completed by a shower room. Indulge in a glass of wine at the enclosed, private courtyard before retiring to one of three bedrooms; the first floor houses 2 kings and plenty of storage, continue up the stairs to the second-floor where another king with sloped ceilings awaits. Be sure to get some-well earned rest before another fun-filled day in the lakes. Old Village House lies in the centre of Windermere close to local shops should you need to stock up on necessities and just paces away from The Pie and Pint, the smallest pub in the Lake District or The Queens both great places for food and celebratory drinks. Outdoor enthusiasts will feel at home in the town due to the plethora of watersport activities available on Lake Windermere as well as the variety of nearby walks and trails. Ambleside, a charming town that offers visitors a wealth of attractions, is also nearby; The Stock Ghyll Force waterfall is a must-see, as is Rydal Cave - one of the longest caves in England. Ambleside is also home to the Ambleside Roman Fort, a well-preserved Roman fort that offers a fascinating insight into the area's history. Or visit Kendal, a fabulous market town home to several museums, including the Kendal Museum, the Quaker Tapestry Museum, and the Lakeland Museum.
