A minutes' walk brings you into the hustle and bustle of this quaint, historic fishing town, with independent shops, tempting tea rooms and a handful of good restaurants. The cobbled slope leads down to the charming promenade and the tiny coble landing, where you can visit the lifeboat station, indulge in candy floss or try your hand in the small amusement arcade. The beautiful sweeping bay is every child's dream, with golden sands, shallow rock pools and pony rides on the beach. One can walk for miles along this magnificent sandy beach or on the windswept cliffs, part of the Cleveland Way long distance trail. If you do want to use the car, there lies a country park and and an animal sanctuary on the edge of Filey, or Bempton RSPB Reserve is well worth a visit to see the puffins and kittiwakes. The larger seaside towns of Bridlington and Scarborough are just a few minutes' drive, with the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds just a little further. A wonderful family holiday location.
