The property
Osmotherley 1.4 miles. Resting on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, in Thimbleby near Osmotherley, is Webstone House, a picturesque, semi-detached cottage, surrounded by tranquil countryside. This characterful property has many traditional features, balanced out by mostly neutral decor, and offers a family or group of six a fantastic base from which to explore the North York Moors and the North Yorkshire coastline. Access the property through the gate, past the immaculate lawn and step inside the cottage to discover a traditional, bright and airy kitchen/diner, with plenty of appliances and surface space to create delicious meals, to be enjoyed as a group at the dining table, while the back door opens up onto the picturesque rear garden. In the evenings, relax in the charming sitting rooms, or the cosy snug, both with character beams and woodburning stoves, while the sitting room has the additional benefit of a TV, ideal for a night in enjoying your favourite films and the snug may be preferred if you want to curl up with a good book. There is also a handy utility room with washing machine and a shower, completing the ground floor layout. Upstairs, you will find three immaculate, neutrally styled bedrooms, offering plenty of light, space and storage, as well as stunning wooden beams, comprising a super-king-size that can be turned into a twin on request and two double bedrooms, all served by a contemporary family bathroom. Outside, you will find off-road parking and a stunning enclosed garden, lined by apple trees, with a patio and furniture, where you can sit back and enjoy a glass of wine in your peaceful setting, while steps up take you onto the large lawn. There are two outbuildings; one for log storage and the other has a fridge and freezer plus a hanging rail for wet clothes, should you want to do any washing during your stay, while the surrounding field often has friendly Shetland Ponies grazing in it. Osmotherley is an attractive conservation village, surrounded by countryside and tree-lined streets, tucked inside the North York Moors National Park, and offers three great pubs, a family run fish and chip shop, a coffee shop and a convenience store, as well as the ruins of the 14th century Mount Grace Priory, owned by the National Trust. The surrounding area is popular with walkers and cyclists, with well-known trails running close by, including the Cleveland Way and the Coast-to-Coast long distance footpaths, while also being the start or end point of the Lyke Wake Walk. The market town of Northallerton is approximately six miles away, with a wide selection of shops and eateries, as well as the city of Ripon, with its 7th century cathedral, museums, famous racecourse, cobbled market squares and quaint alleyways lined with cosy tearooms and lovely eateries, and from here, you are within easy reach of the picturesque countryside of the Nidderdale AONB. The spa town of Harrogate and the historic cathedral cities of York, Durham and Newcastle are all within an hour's drive, as is the North Yorkshire coastline, popular seaside resort of Whitby and a host of picturesque sandy beaches. Webstone House is a fantastic base to return to after a day spent exploring north Yorkshire.
