When it’s time for bed, the master bedroom is beautifully appointed with large windows offering further glimpses of those all-important views and the cool single bedroom (with pull-out bed) is perfect for the kids. The gardens are fully enclosed offering a safe area for children and any pets to run around in while the elevated patio area has patio furniture all set up ready for guests to sit down and enjoy time alfresco soaking up the views. South Cottage is ideally located for the scenic coastal path between Craster and Alnmouth with some fantastic views along the way (including the enchanting Dunstanburgh Castle) and the picturesque coastal village of Craster is nearby. Craster was an important fishing harbour in the 17th century and is still famous for its oak cured kippers which have graced the best breakfast tables for more than 150 years. Nearby are some of Northumberland's finest sandy beaches. Just south of Craster is Howick Hall, which was built in 1782 and has associations with the Grey family, including Earl Grey the great social reformer and tea enthusiast. The gardens at Howick Hall are open to the public during the spring and summer and are especially worth a visit during the rhododendron season. South Cottage enjoys a superb setting and offers guests beautifully presented accommodation.
