Jump in the car for a short but scenic drive to Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens, with attractions a little further afield including Dunstanburgh Castle, Howick Hall and Gardens, Northumberland Country Zoo, Farne Islands and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. Activities worth having a go at while you’re here include golf at Alnmouth Golf Club, horse-riding at Slate Hall Riding Centre, surfing at Bamburgh Castle Beach and sailing at Beadnell Sailing Club.
