Just over seven miles away lies the town of Newark-on-Trent, where you can embrace the rich local history as you tour the imposing establishment of Newark Castle and Gardens, and wander the galleries of the local museum. The stunning minster town of Southwell is also worth a visit, home to an architectural jewel that is the Mister church, boasting some of the finest medieval stone carving in England.
