The property
Moorhen Cottage is a charming terraced cottage just a stone's throw from all the delights of the centre of Ludlow and enjoys a beautiful setting resting on the banks of the River Teme. Home to two bedrooms sleeping three guests, Moorhen Cottage is the ideal choice for a romantic escape or a small group trip to this pretty Shropshire market town, within easy reach of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Arrive at this lovely dwelling and enter via the quaint entrance tunnel shared with the property next door leading to the rear of the property, and be met with the beautiful garden space that overlooks the river. Step into the contemporary extension of the kitchen which is home to a stylish breakfast bar for breakfast with a view, with all the essential appliances found in the kitchen, including an electric oven and hob and a fridge. Move into the living room/diner for an evening of relaxing on the plush seating with your loved ones, warmed by the woodburning stove and surrounded by the homely interior with original flourishes like the exposed brick fireplace. Travel upstairs in the evening and settle down in the lovely and spacious double bedroom, with a feature fireplace adding a wealth of character and crisp bedding. The second bedroom is home to a single bed and enjoys fresh white decor along with pretty views of the river from the window, while the shower room here perfectly serves all guests with a large shower enclosure, basin and WC. Take advantage of nice weather by sitting out in the rear garden listening to the river running along, a perfectly peaceful way to begin your day before beginning to explore Ludlow. Head out on foot to get to know this charming market town, filled with rich history and heritage that can be seen in over 500 listed buildings here, as well as the fantastic Ludlow Castle, one of the first stone castles to be built in England and dating back to the 11th century. You can visit the castle and afterwards delight in a picnic on the Millennium Green, or visit the café here, Green Café, for tea and cake. As capital of the Welsh Marches, Ludlow is a great place from which to explore the beautiful countryside with walks and cycling, as well as being just next door to the Shropshire Hills AONB. Visit this bustling town during the Ludlow Food & Drink Festival, held every September, it is based in Ludlow Castle as well as throughout the town, with a host of venues taking part and plenty of vendors participating, offering any foodies a haven of tastes to try! Walkers can delight in following the historic Offa's Dyke Path which loosely follows the England/Wales border, with amazing scenery along the way as well as passing near to some more interesting attractions like the ruins of the 13th century Clun Castle. Enjoy a wonderful break to Ludlow at Moorhen Cottage.
