Recommendations include an outdoor tap, more seating, and fixing potholes. Overall, guests enjoyed their stay and plan to return.

The property

Shrewsbury 7 miles. Treehouse Barn at Pitchford Estate, a beautifully restored barn conversion resting in Pitchford, Shropshire. This single-storey dwelling sleeps four guests, boasting en-suites and an enclosed garden, making it a lovely base for families and friends seeking an escape in rural Shropshire. Set on the dairy cow-grazed fields of Pitchford Park Farm, one of the three working farms on the Pitchford Estate, Tree House Barn is an eco-friendly escape, with water coming from a nearby well and renewable energy from an air source heat pump and the Estate's solar farm. With roots reaching back to the Domesday Book and a history shaped by medieval owners, royal visitors and ongoing restoration efforts featured in Channel 4’s Saving Country Houses, the wider Pitchford Estate offers a remarkable backdrop to this peaceful retreat. Step inside the contemporary open-plan living space where underfloor heating will warm you in the colder months whilst you socialise with your loved ones in this bright and spacious setting. A TV with a DVD player sits in the corner when you fancy a film night, with a sofa and armchairs to relax on; it's the perfect place to wind down after a day of walking in the surrounding countryside. Take a seat at the stylish breakfast bar overlooking the sleek fitted kitchen and keep the chef of your group company whilst they rustle up some delicious home-cooked food for all, with excellent appliances at hand including an electric hob and built in oven and microwave. The bedrooms lie at either end of the property, with the first bedroom boasting a king-size bed and a beautiful roll top bath and basin within the room, whilst the WC rests in a separate en-suite. The second bedroom is home to twin beds and benefits from an en-suite shower room behind a curtain, letting you step into a refreshing shower first thing. Enjoy time outside in your own private enclosed garden, with your canine companions sure to love this large lawn space. Tree House Barn earned its name thanks to what could be the oldest tree house in the world, Tree House at Pitchford, first appearing in records in 1692 and visited by a young Queen Victoria. Pitchford Hall is a Grade I listed property holding a great deal of history, with the extensive grounds being open to guests to roam, coming across lakes, hills and fields with opportunities to spot local wildlife! Make your way to The Fox at Ryton, a dog‑friendly spot at the heart of Ryton, where the revived 17th‑century building, friendly team and countryside backdrop offer just the right amount of character. The nearest town to Pitchford Estate is Shrewsbury, also home to a wealth of historical significance and home to over 600 listed buildings. Visit the imposing, redbrick Shrewsbury Castle now home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum which contains all manner of armed forces artefacts dating from the 18th century to the present day, whilst Shrewsbury Abbey is what remains of the original Norman Benedictine Monastery built in 1083 and is well worth a visit for history enthusiasts. Travel on Britain's steepest railway in Bridgnorth, enjoying scenic cliff top views at the top overlooking the beautiful River Severn, or head to the medieval market town of Much Wenlock. The ruins of Acton Burnell Castle are striking and can be incorporated into a walk right from the Pitchford Estate, whilst the amazing Wroxeter Roman City from the 2nd century is an amazing sight to behold! Venture into the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for excellent walking and cycling routes, alongside stunning scenery of course!
