The property
Rose Cottage is the ideal base for which to explore the wonders of Derbyshire, a true gem
on the edge of the Peak District.
This delightfully renovated 18th century stone cottage offers the ultimate home-away-from-home in the heart of the charming market town of Matlock. The cottage has been
lovingly renovated to blend modern comforts with rustic charm, with idyllic views of Riber
Castle to enjoy.
A gated, gravel driveway provides ample secure parking for 2 vehicles. Visitors will be
instantly enchanted by the cottage garden, with blooming rambling roses and climbing
wisteria covered facade. A stone flagged patio with original well feature provides an
enclosed seating area – the perfect spot for morning coffee while taking in the view of the
castle.
Entering the property, you will find a cosy sitting room with magnificent, exposed oak
beams and a Derbyshire stone fireplace with log burning stove. Perfect for curling up with
a book and relaxing or just enjoying with family or friends by the glowing fire after exploring
the area. The luxurious feature of underfloor heating also warms the wooden floors!
underfoot and keeps the entire space warm and inviting.
The sperate dining room with sash window and working original shutters, provides an
elegant space for celebratory meals. Built in bookshelves, a curated library, games and
colouring books help to create a homely atmosphere. While DVD’s and the Smart TV’s can
also provide hours of entertainment.
Stepping into the kitchen you will find a breakfast bar with modern amenities and premium
appliances, with heated porcelain floors. Every pot, pan and gadget you could need is at
hand, along with a welcome basket of wine and goodies on your arrival. Patio doors lead to
another flag stone patio, with dining set and Gas BBQ, bordered with lavender and grasses,
an ideal spot to dine al-fresco on warmer days.
A convenient downstair toilet and laundry room leads to a further enclosed cottage
courtyard with log store, washing line and bike store.
Upstairs, three beautifully appointed bedrooms await. The Master has exposed beams
crisscrossing below the vaulted ceiling, with super-king feature bed and sunny window
seat. Bedrooms two and three also indulge in luxury comforts with thoughtful ideas, such
as hairdryers and children's books and magazines.
The main bathroom includes, walk in rain shower, soaking tub and luxury bath products.
No detail has been overlooked by the devoted owners who have thought of everything to
make your stay as comfortable and restful as possible. You’ll wake refreshed each day
ready to explore the local sites.
While staying at this splendid cottage you’re a step away from the Red Lion Pub and
Microbrewery with beer garden, a delicious chip shop and a newsagent. A short stroll
takes you to the amenities of Matlock, where you will find specialty shops, cafes, pubs and
restaurants. The popular Hall Leys Park forms its centre, surrounded by steep scenic
hillsides. Here you will find riverside paths to wander, rose gardens to enjoy, a duck and
boating lake, tennis courts, children's play areas and splash park. The park holds many
festivals and fairs throughout the summer and wonderful festive Christmas Markets in the
winter.
You could always set out on one of the endless walking trails winding through the crags
and crevasses of the glorious Derbyshire countryside.
A highlight could be to visit the grand estate of Chatsworth House, picnicking in the regal
