Summary

The cottage offers a beautiful and comfortable stay in a lovely town, equipped with high-quality facilities and an impressive bathroom. Guests appreciated the peaceful location and garden, although some noted issues with steep stairs and limited Christmas decorations. Overall, it is highly recommended for exploring Fife.

The property

An elegantly decorated, detached cottage found at the heart of the village of Falkland. Dunira cottage, built in 1749, boasts a charming feel with a seamless blend of character and contemporary features, making an ideal base for a romantic break to Scotland. The ground floor features a stunning, well-equipped shaker style kitchen, designed with a fresh colour palette and a luxurious touch. In here you will also find an idyllic shaker style dining table, ideal for enjoying your home cooked meals. Opposite is the living room, completed with the same fresh colour palette and boasting a homely atmosphere featuring a woodburning fire and TV. Follow the traditional cottage-style stairs up, to the characterful bedroom, finished with exposed beams and a wooden door to highlight the history of the building. The furniture has been carefully selected to create a sense of freshness and elegance. Across the landing you will find the impressive bathroom, featuring a large freestanding copper bath, shower over bath, basin, and WC. To the side of the property, you will have access to an enclosed garden, with a lawned area, ideal for letting your dog stretch its legs. As the cottage is centrally located, you are a stones' throw away from the local pub, and the nearest shop can be found within a short walk. For attractions, you are only a short walk from the stunning Falkland Palace, which is a fine Renaissance palace with an impressive formal garden, filled with history, including home to one of Scotland’s most famous royals, Mary Queen of Scots. Further afield, the cottage is approximately an hour’s drive from the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, or the seaside town of St Andrews, which is approximately a 30-minute drive away. Dunira is an ideal retreat for a romantic getaway and for exploring what Scotland has to offer. EPC Rating: Band D.
