The property
This delightful terraced cottage is located close to the centre of Sherborne, Dorset.
Beautifully presented over three floors, Foxden is ideally situated for guests to explore the lovely Dorset countryside and nearby Somerset.
Park at the rear of the property and follow the garden path down to the cottage, entering through the well-equipped kitchen. The comfortable living/dining room has a flagstone floor, exposed beams and a wood-burning stove in the inglenook fireplace.
On the first floor, there is a double bedroom and the bathroom, which has a roll-top bath and hand-held shower. Please note that the nature of this character cottage does not lend itself to a separate shower cubicle.
On the second floor, the bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, exposed beams and a king-size bed.
When you’re ready to explore, take a gentle stroll into the town centre, which is only a few minutes walk from the cottage. Sherborne has a wide range of interesting independent shops and an abundance of excellent cafés, restaurants and pubs.
The town has many historic architectural buildings including, at its heart, Sherborne Abbey, which was founded by St Aldhelm in AD 705. It also has two castles! The original castle was built 900 years ago by Roger, Bishop of Salisbury and, in Elizabethan times, was rented from the Crown by Sir Walter Raleigh. He then went on to build the “new” castle in 1594. Both are well worth a visit, even if to just explore the beautiful gardens originally designed by Capability Brown.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.
