For more amenities, independent stores, and a great variety of pubs, cafés, and restaurants, visit nearby Newport and continue along to Cardigan where you can find the birthplace of the Welsh Eisteddfod at Cardigan Castle for the historians of the group. The nature lovers meanwhile can revel in the the Welsh Wildlife Centre at nearby Cilgerran and take a boat trip out to meet the resident dolphins of Cardigan Bay. On your way back to base, call in at Castell Henllys Iron Age Village and head further back in time to the Neolithic age, with a photo at the picture postcard Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber. For the hikers, a bracing walk up into the mythical Preseli Hills is a must, and make sure to call down into the Gwaun Valley for a pint of Bass in one of Wales' most iconic pubs, 'Bessies' at journey's end.
