Summary
The property is well-located near the town center and is a charming, historic home. Guests appreciated its cleanliness and well-stocked kitchen. Minor issues included a broken socket, loose shower head, and a bathroom door design challenge for older guests. Maintenance support was helpful.
The property
Settled at the centre of the historic town of Bury St Edmunds, you will find this impressive holiday home, Enterprise House.
Traditionally styled with a quaint interior, with plenty of space to host your group of six, this property is perfect for your retreat with family or friends to this desirable area of Suffolk. Step up into the large hallway and discover the sitting room to find a colourful array of soft furnishing, encompassed by sophisticated wood panelled walls; open up the shutters and let the natural light fill the room, lighting up the woodburning stove in the cooler months for a truly homely feel. On the other side of the hallway rests the dining room with royal green walls and a spacious dining table to host all for your evening meals, while the kitchen also hosts a handy breakfast table for four where you can tuck into a energising breakfast to begin your day of adventure. A large range cooker to assist with all your family favourites, as well as exposed brick and beams bringing even more character to the property. Just outside of the kitchen you can find your very own courtyard where you can while away the hours discussing your favourite holiday moments so far with a refreshing drink in hand. Also on the ground floor you can find a spacious shower room and WC, housing plenty of room for storing any wetsuits after a day on the coast, with a washing machine conveniently being found here too! Move up to the first floor to find three elegant bedrooms, consisting of a master king-size, a double and a twin room, the latter two rooms sharing a wardrobe space with interconnecting doors, making the perfect sleeping spot for those travelling with little ones, each room hosting a traditional interior through its tasteful furnishings and original fireplaces (not operational). Start your days by stepping out of the front door and straight into the historic centre of Bury; venture to one of the local shops to pick up some breakfast essentials for your loved ones, or hunt out a café, with the town being known as 'Suffolk's foodie town', you can find plenty of eateries to take your pick from including pubs and restaurants too, offering all kinds of cuisines. There are plenty of fantastic attractions to discover within the town, with the ruins of the abbey and the 14th century Great Gate and Norman Tower being very close to the property. And opposite are the magnificent Abbey Gardens, flaunting flora and fauna of all kinds. The town is also home to Suffolk's only cathedral and Moyse's Hall Museum, both perfect for uncovering the rich history of the area.Visit the National Trust property of Ickworth, or he beautiful park of Nowton, spanning over 200 acres with a pretty pond, wildflower meadow, a maze, lime avenue and arboretum, it makes a lovely way to spend a day, while the Thetford Forest Park is also just a scenic drive away for those seeking the ultimate outdoor experience. Venture to the coast, either east to the Suffolk Coast & Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the lovely seaside towns of Aldeborough and Southwold; or north to the stunning beaches of the North Norfolk Coast and beauty spots such as Blakeney Point for seal watching.
