The property
Embsay 1 mile. Lying in the charming Yorkshire Dales village of Eastby, part of Skipton and resting just within the National Park, is this delightful stone cottage, Bridgend Cottage. Sleeping six guests in three bedrooms, this three-storey cottage is perfect for a group seeking a walking and outdoors holiday in Yorkshire. The homely living/dining room has been decorated in a traditional style with antique furniture and original features like the inglenook fireplace which houses the woodburning stove, great for warm nights in on a winter's evening. Gather around the dining table place next to the window and tuck into delicious meals prepared in the lovely kitchen, with a contemporary country style, you'll find everything you need for your self-catered stay, including an electric oven and hob, along with a washing machine for muddy walking gear! Upstairs the elegant antique style continues in the lovely super-king-size bedroom with a lovely dresser and large wardrobe to store your things, served by a shower room on this floor. Continue up to the second floor to find two further bedrooms comprising a twin with pretty wrought iron bed frames and a lovely double room, with these rooms served by the beautifully tiled bathroom, perfect for a relaxing soak after a busy day. Spend time in the sun room on the ground floor getting lost in a good book or sipping your morning coffee as you wake up with the world, with the lovely garden home to a trickling stream and backing onto Barden Moor. The location of Bridgend Cottage is perfect for walkers being on the cusp of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, you can set off on an exploration from your doorstep up to Embsay Crag, around Embsay Moor Reservoir, home to the Craven Sailing Club, or over Barden Moor. The neighbouring village of Embsay is home to a local village shop and a pub, both within walking distance of the cottage, while the bustling town of Skipton is where the action is, with Skipton Castle well worth visiting to see this almost intact medieval fortress up close, as well as dungeons, kitchens and bedchambers. Hop on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway for a scenic ride through some of Yorkshire's finest countryside on a vintage steam train with afternoon tea available, signal box experiences and even gin tastings, it's a perfect day out! When you reach Bolton Abbey you can begin a walk up to Bolton Priory to see these striking church ruins on the riverside, continuing on up to The Strid for an extra walk. Go deeper into the Dales and visit the unique rock formation of Malham Cove, an incredible cliff top overlooking a valley making for dramatic views from both the top of the rock and the base, perhaps following Hawthorns Lane down to Janet's Foss afterwards, a beautiful waterfall. Appletreewick, Grassington, Kettlewell and Conistone are all delightful villages along the Wharfe Valley worth stopping in at for refreshments during your outings too! Make wonderful memories in the Yorkshire Dales from the beautiful Bridgend Cottage.
