The hamlet of Thornton is the birthplace of the Bronte sisters, whilst six miles away is the village of Haworth with cobbled streets and shops and the town of Halifax with historic Piece Hall, plus Bradford is close by and has the beautiful Alhambra Theatre and City Park with its fountains. Nearby, the famous Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, makes a lovely day out, with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area surrounding your Yorkshire Dales cottage abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton is just a short drive away, whilst also within reach are Harrogate, Leeds and Manchester.
