Summary
The accommodation is praised for its stunning location and cleanliness. However, feedback highlights inadequate heating, poor access for large vehicles, and a missing DVD player. Suggestions include providing additional heating and comfortable outdoor seating. Overall, a pleasant stay despite some issues.
The property
A superb, stone-built detached cottage located in the peaceful Nidderdale village of Grewelthorpe near Ripon. The property sits in a Hamlet of several pretty cottages, on the edge of the village. Boasting uninterrupted countryside views to the rear, this makes for the ideal spot for couples looking to get away from it all and enjoy a well-earned break. The cottage features a delightful open plan living area complete with a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a perfect space to enjoy meals for two, plus there is a cosy sitting area where you can snuggle up in front of the woodburning stove and enjoy a film. You will also find a spacious bedroom featuring an en-suite wet room. From the living area, French doors open out into a private garden with views stretching across rolling hills, offering a space to enjoy a drink in tranquil surroundings. Be sure to make the most of these beautiful surroundings by embarking on one the many walks that are available from the doorstep. The magical Hackfall Woods can be found within a 15 minutes stroll, where you will come across follies, grottoes, surprise waterfalls and the fountain. After working up a thirst why not stop off at the village pub, The Crown, where you are sure to get a friendly welcome and can enjoy traditional pub food or enjoy a selection of local ales? Nearby the popular town of Masham awaits with such attractions as The Black Sheep Visitor Centre with its bistro, the town's famous market square and 7th century church and can be easily accessed by car or within an hour and a half by foot along the River Ure. For the amenities and sites of the city, historic Ripon can be found within a short drive, where you can explore enchanting old streets and alleyways, fascinating museums, the market square and a stunning cathedral. Further afield, the lovely town of Harrogate has so much to offer for a memorable day out, with the magnificent Turkish baths, old theatres and Bettys tea rooms overlooking Montpelier Gardens, as well as many fine places to eat. With beautiful countryside on the doorstep as well as many wonderful places to visit, this Nidderdale cottage is the perfect base for a romantic and relaxing break.
